Ornamental Iron

Ornamental Iron, Forged In Our Own Oklahoma City Shop

One of Oklahoma's most complete ornamental iron fabrication facilities. We weld, bend, roll, hammer, forge, punch, shear and press iron ourselves, so nothing on this page came off a shelf.

One shop, eight capabilities, nothing bought in

Cook's runs one of Oklahoma's most complete ornamental iron fabrication facilities, inside our own shop on SW 21st Street. We weld, bend, roll, hammer, forge, punch, shear and press iron under one roof, old-world iron techniques worked alongside modern machinery. Custom design starts with AutoCAD detailing, so a scroll or a panel is drawn to your opening before a single length of bar stock gets cut. Hand-forged wrought iron comes into play wherever the drawing calls for it, and the same capability builds gates, railings, fencing and iron furniture, not just one of those four.

From a drawing to a finished gate

Because the fabrication happens here, a custom piece does not wait on a supplier's catalogue. We detail the design, cut and shape the steel ourselves, and finish it in the same shop where the anvil in this photograph sits. Not every job needs that level of custom work, and when a prefabricated line is the better fit for the budget or the timeline, we say so plainly.

The eight verbs of the shop floor

Everything a fabrication shop needs to do, under one roof.

This is the actual list of what happens between a length of bar stock and a finished gate. Most fence companies can do one or two of these steps and buy in the rest. We do all eight, in the same building, on the same day.

  • Weld

Steel joined in our own shop, not bolted together on your driveway.

  • Bend

Curves formed cold, so the grain of the bar follows the arc.

  • Roll

Arches and rings rolled to a radius we set to your opening.

  • Hammer

Texture worked into the face by hand, the old way.

  • Forge

Heat, anvil, hammer. Scrollwork that no catalogue carries.

  • Punch

Clean holes through solid stock, no drilled burr to rust from.

  • Shear

Plate cut square and true before anything else happens to it.

  • Press

Panels and profiles formed to shape under load.

Not just gates

Gates, railings, fencing, and furniture, off the same table.

A shop that can weld, bend, roll, hammer, forge, punch, shear and press does not stop at gates. The same eight capabilities build railings, fence panels and iron furniture, one piece at a time, drawn first rather than pulled from a stock part number. A Route 66 shield fabricated for a customer's shop, shown here, goes through the same table, the same hammer and the same welder as a driveway gate.

Not every job needs hand-forged custom work, and we will tell you when it does not. As a preferred Ameristar contractor, we also install their factory built fence and gate systems when that is the better fit for the budget or the timeline, without pretending our own fabrication is always the right answer.
